Peak breeding Nov 14

Seeking · Oct 24 – Nov 4

Bucks widen their range and cruise between doe bedding areas, scent-checking scrapes and trails, more and more in daylight. Midday movement climbs toward its peak of the year. Hunt funnels and downwind edges of doe bedding; stay later in the morning, and all day once the middays come up.

How DecoCast works

The number
Every number is a 0–100 index, not a percent. 50 is an average hour of legal light on a typical early-season day. Higher always means more bucks on their feet, so dawn and dusk stay on top. A dry day at peak rut rates about 66.
What goes in
The hourly forecast for your ground (wind, temperature, pressure trend, rain) from Open-Meteo, sunrise and sunset, the moon, and the rut’s phases for your latitude and date. No AI and no guesses about your season dates.
What it’s built on
Buck GPS-collar studies. The rut lifts midday movement most, peaking about a week before peak breeding. Weather is a small, capped nudge, except steady rain (which can cut the chance by half) and cold after the rut.
When it says sit all day
From about 19 days before peak breeding to a week after, unless rain or wind takes the middle of the day.
What it can’t do
See your deer. It forecasts the odds a buck is on his feet, not where he is. Your hunt log saves the forecast with every sit, so you can see how it matched.
